Douglas Lozier is a 28-year Lion joining the Cascade Lions Club (District C) in 1976 through 2000 when he moved to Hamilton County and transferred to the Carmel Lions Club (District D) until the present. Life Member of LCI and the Carmel Lions. He has served as club President for two years, 10 years as secretary, 8 years as treasurer and other club officers. In 1986, he was elected to serve District 25-C as their District Governor. He served the Lions of Indiana as State Comptroller from 1992 – 1998. From 1997 through 2001, PDG Lozier served the Lions as Host Committee General Manager for the 2001 Lions International Convention that was held in Indianapolis. Currently, Past District Governor Lozier is the Multiple District Leadership Development Chairperson and represents his district as a trustee of the Indiana Lions Foundation, Inc. and the Indiana Lions State Office Holding Corporation.
He has attended 15 international conventions, 18 USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forums, 21 state conventions, and all sixteen Mid-Winter Conferences. Past Governor Lozier has served his districts as a zone chairman, deputy district governor, parliamentarian, and environmental committee chairman. He has also chaired the state Constitution and By-Laws Committee and the state Budget and Finance Committee and is a former director of the Indiana Lions Eye and Tissue Transplant Bank, Inc.
For his leadership during his term as District Governor, PDG Lozier was awarded the 100% District Governor Award from Lions International. He has received the International President’s medal from Past International President Jean Behar in 2001 and two International Presidents Leadership Awards from Past International Presidents William Woolard and William Wunder. Past International President Bill Biggs also awarded PDG Lozier with his International President’s Certificate of Appreciation. Lion Lozier holds membership and advancement keys for sponsoring 8 new members and has over 25 years of perfect attendance with the Lions. In 1988, District 25-C honored PDG Lozier by naming him a Melvin Jones Fellow and in 1998, the Indiana Lions Foundation awarded him a W.P. Woods Fellow.
Past District Governor Doug Lozier is the Corporate Safety and Environmental Manager for the Heritage Group companies of Asphalt Materials, Laketon Refining, Crystal Flash Petroleum, U.S. Aggregates, Heritage Slag Products, Calumet Lubricants, and Heritage Synfuel Binders. He is responsible for the employee health and safety, environmental protection, and community right-to-know programs and travels to the company locations in the Midwest conducting training and compliance inspections. He also has responsibilities for the environmental, occupational safety, and transportation regulatory compliance with federal and state agencies. Prior to joining The Heritage Group, he was a career firefighter/emergency medical technician with the Town of Plainfield holding the rank of Captain and was an emergency medical technician instructor for the Indiana Emergency Medical Service Commission.
PDG Lozier has served the Indiana Lions Foundation the past two years by developing the Indiana Lions Photoscreening Program, Operation KidSight. While being secretary/treasurer of the organization, he is also a trainer and business manager for the program. He has presented seminars at 5 Mid-Winter Conferences and many state conventions. He frequently presents seminars and other training programs for his employment and other work associations. PDG Lozier holds the designation as a Certified Environmental Trainer (CET) from the National Environmental Safety and Health Training Association. He is also a certified trainer for the American Red Cross and the American First Aid Institute
Past Governor Doug is 53 years old and resides in the Homeplace Area of Hamilton County with his wife, Lion Kathy. They have one married daughter, Steffannie. He is a graduate of Warsaw Community High School and Purdue University (1974) with a BS Degree in Agriculture (Horticulture Production and Business Management). PDG Lozier is a member of the Clayton Christian Church previously serving as Church Board President for three years and now attends Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He is also active in the American Society of Safety Engineers, National Environmental Safety and Health Training Association, and the Purdue Agriculture Alumni.
